SME COORDINATOR GRANTED SALMON PRODUCTION LISENCE
THE SME Coordinator and project instigator Seafood Security has been granted a commercial size R&D production lisence for Salmon for the follow-on development for the next generation of AFC capsules.
The lisence size and duration, 780 mt over 4 1/2 years, allows for large scale field testing in real-life conditions and will provide the SMEs behind the capsule development to conduct long, full cycle trials to document technology robustness and collect data from the entire period the salmon spends in saltwater. It also allows the development of successive new generations of capsules, smaller in size, with added functionalities.
The consortium will begin long-term trials of the prototype developed under the Aquafarmcontrol Project as soon as all permits have been secured. The lisence will be developed in collaboration with a professional fish farm operator in Northern Norway.
