The Aquafarmcontrol Project is nearing completion and final trials of the complete prototype system is underway. The trials will as earlier, be conducted at Marine Harvest's test facility in Ardnish, Scotland. The project has garnered signifcant interest from both operators and technology providers to the aquaculture sector.
The system will run in a separate cage with a sample of tagged fish. The trials will include welfare assesements as well as general technology trials, such as signal strength, reception and transmission along with scheduled down-timesand simulated breach scenarios
The complete capsule system has already been subjected to rigorous trials, both lab and in the field, in Sweden and Norway. The trials in Scotland will be the first on a aquaculture production site and will form the baseline trials for the follow-on period post-aquafarmcontrol starting fall of 2015.
