FINAL PROTOTYPE READY
After many months of development and testing, the final prototype is now ready for final testing. The capsule measures 5mm x 18,5 mm and is one of the smallest available on the market, and by far the most cost effective solution available. The platform has been developed to allow for the collection of biometrics in real time along with breach alert.
After considerable deliberation and dialogue with multiple regulatory authorities, the consortium has now removed the immobilization functionality from the capsules. Given the overall stringent regulations for fish euthenasia and country specific requirements for handling, transport and storage, the decision was made to exclude the immobilization functionality from the capsules.
However, the breach alert system remains a key functionality of the capsule, and this will give the fish farmer an accurate assessement of the number of fish escaped in a breach scenario, within hours, not days or weeks, as is the case today. Furthermore, the platform allows for the collection of biometrics from the fish and this will be expanded considerably in the follow-on development period post-Aquafarmcontrol, starting fall of 2015
